I ran mid grade with no pings and then went to Premium next and the performance seemed the same.įirst, I am sorry if this question has been asked before, but couldn't fins an answer so here goes: Overall - well worth the updated flash and I did notice more pulling power, less down shifting and a lot better throttle response. Note - remember this is not the first flash on my ECU that was done already this was the UPDATE I sent it back for and it is well worth it. The engine ran cooler, the engine noise went away the only thing I heard was a slight whine when revving it up and letting her settle down again. I changed the oil to Rotella T6 and put in the Lucas oil additive with 4 ounces of Sea Foam also and installed a new K&N air filter. Yamaha has offered two more years of the YES for about $500 which is well worth it if something goes wrong, but if I do the re-flash I'm betting dollars to doughnuts that they will void the warranty.OK, here is the update on the IVAN patch,ġ) The throttle response is much better, I was amazed how well it performedĢ) Pickup seemed better and my gas mileage went up to 44.3 today with 110 miles under my belt with the new upgrade.ģ) I shifted less on hills and no pinging the whole day with mid grade or Premium, but will stay with Premium anyway.Ĥ) Ivan must have done a few other things since it felt better then the first flash and the engine seems to perform better. I'm also faced with re-upping my YES warranty, as my bike is out of warranty in June. I want everything reported here, smoother throttle since I spend ALLOT of time in traffic these days, better gas milage since I have to fill up every two days when commuting to work, and more power because.well who wouldn't want that. Quote from: Grumpy on April 16, 2014, 01:01:32 pm I find myself in a dilemma. I don't want to be in that situation if I buy the extended warranty, which is high on my to-do list. I have a Toyota that I have modded allot, including a secondary battery, steel bumpers, a winch and a lift (to name a few) and the Toyota place basically told me not to bother bringing it back to them for any kind of warranty work as they will not honor it. Dealers seem to look the other way when it comes to the power commander, but I know I could always unplug it and no one would be any the wiser. So far they have been good, and my bike has lots of mods. I know I'm a skeptic on this stuff, not on Ivan's work (which so far has been getting rave reviews, which is why I'm interested) but more on how Yamaha will treat me when something breaks. I'm gonna take my bike in for service this weekend and talk to the service manager about this, he seems like a good guy and think we will be straight with me on how they would treat it. Ivan, any experience with past customers dealing with mama-Yamaha on warranty issues and them giving them grief over the ECU change? My bike is no trailer queen and gets ridden in all kinds of conditions. Not knowing the process to re-flash the ECU I'm guessing you have to open this thing, and what if the seal fails, and moisture gets in there.
